A Unified Payments Interface (UPI) audit is a review of an organization’s compliance with the guidelines and standards set by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) for the UPI program. This audit assesses the organization’s systems, processes, and controls for handling UPI transactions, and ensures that they are in compliance with the NPCI’s rules and regulations for data security, privacy, and compliance. It is done to ensure that the financial transactions of individuals are protected and that the organization is following the guidelines set by NPCI.

UPI is a payment system that enables the instant transfer of funds between bank accounts through a mobile device. UPI audit ensures that the organization providing the UPI services are in compliance with the NPCI’s guidelines and regulations to protect the financial transactions of individuals. The audit will be conducted by either NPCI or by an auditor appointed by NPCI to conduct UPI audit.

UPI Audit is done to check the compliance of the payment service providers regarding the NPCI’s guidelines, rules, and regulations. The audit will cover various aspects like security, privacy, and compliance related to the UPI transactions. The audit report will be submitted to the NPCI and will be used to assess the payment service provider’s compliance and take further action if necessary.
